Where do they come from?

The art of Tattoo has been around for thousands of years. The styles and reasons for tattoo have varied from individual to individual as they have from society to society.
Though the fundamental concept of tattoo has been constant throughout the history, the styles and reasons for tattoo have evolved along with man's own development. Some people think that tattooing was done for medicinal purposes. The pigments used in tattooing may have been a certain type of berry known to have some curative and healing effects for different ailments.

The history of tattoos can be traced back to both primitive and historic culture as far back as before the birth of Christ. For these cultures, tattoos signified importance or power and were generally reserved for religious figures in their community. The word tattoo comes from the sound the tattooing instrument makes on the skin of those being tattooed and derives from the Polynesian word 'ta' which means to strike something.

Modern Tattooing evolved from the early days of Chatham square in New York City. It was Charlie Wagner who opened a supply business with Lew Alberts and began early tattoo flash art. Tattoos became a popular cosmetic surgery at this time, adding blush, colored lips and eyeliner. The media began reporting stories of hepatitis and other diseases, based on most tattoo shops having the equipment to sterilize their tools, but very few shops using them. Today tattoos are as popular and safe as they ever have been. There are new tattoo shops opening regularly to meet the growing demand.

That german guy with the mostache

Patrick Mohr and excentric. There is much to say about this fashion desginer but I'll sum it up in a few words. Born in 1980 in Mainz, Germany , studied fashion design in Esmod in Paris where he won the "prix creature" for best collection. His desings can be described in 3 words: Geometrical, unisex, unconventional. His pattern making technics can be seen as those used by many of the japanese desginers we love. They are large, with big pieces of textiles put together and basic colors. His cloths can be called basics with a hint of avant-guard shapes and a twist of basic patterns. His collections are presented in Rende-vous Paris and Premium in Berlin. This year he made an amazing collaboration with our favorite eyewear designer Adrian Mustelin.

COOL SHADES

Adrian Mustelin is an eyewear designer from Finland who dedicates his life to the design of his sunglasses and his newly formed company Adrian Mustelin Spectacles dedicated to quality and design. He understands eyewear is an important part of ones image and he delivers sunglasses with immaculate quality and edgy design for a picky clientele all over the World. All of his products are made from the best materials and the whole process is made by hand.

“I think eyewear is the most personal accessory there is. It touches your ears and nose, covers your eyes and your identity (if big enough) and protects you from nasty looks when you are in need of four walls and a shut door. Eyewear, when correctly chosen enhances personality and style. A lot of people are recognized by the character their eyewear gives them, people like Andy Warhol, Karl Lagerfeld and Woody Allen.”

Working with one of the last original eyewear factories, Adrian Mustelin Spectacles offer handcrafted frames, individually cut, shaped and polished by craftsmen with over twenty years experience. This means you can either pre-order our eyewear-lines or have them made for you in any design, size and colour that you like.

"THE" STYLIST

The most reknown fashion stylist in Barcelona. An Icon for all fashion experts living in this city. Her style is a clear mix of all decades which combines theatrical makeup, amazing hair styles and perfect mixture between vintage and avant gard style. She's simply experimental and extremely innovative. Her works include editorials with reknown local photographers like
Txema Yeste, Michelle Ferrara, Tony Kelly, Nacho Alegre and Quentin de Briey among others, and several covers for important magazines like Vanidad, Woman , Neo2 & Metal Magazine.

WHO'S BEHIND THE NAME?

One of the most recognized designers in Barcelona, and still few people know her name. This is partly her own choice, well she insists on staying anonymous. The name is Elena Martin. 4 words can describe her: creativity on it's own. Born & raised in Barcelona, graduated in Fashion Design in Saint Martin's school of art in London, her roots go back to the electronic & underground scene of boths cities as well as the video art & theatre scene. This young spanish designer doesn't stop impressing us with her continusly growing creativity and her unique way of working with prints in her unisex garments. Collection after collection she keeps evolving and making her style one of a kind skipping from one big inspiration to another passing from Martin Parr's photography to the big, dry desserts of Texas, Utah. Her tone begins with a mood of optimism and romantic lightness, before turning into an ironic and urban one through the characters of her prints and the masculinity of her garments.

FAVORITE TREND

GRUNGE= Sucio, feo, basura, mugre, porquería, inmundicia.

"...Vandalism: Beautiful as a Rock in a Cop's Face..."

"...Es Mejor quemarse que apagarse lentamente...”

"If It Makes Me Happy,It Can´t be Soo Bad"

"GOD IS GAY!!!”

PUNK + ROCK + METAL= GRUNGE

SIMBOLOGIA/ CULTURA/ FEELS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT

EL GRUNGE SE SIGUE VIVIENDO….
